This article will walk the user through the steps needed to register an account for NYISO participants in the New York Generation Attribute Tracking System (NYGATS). Please see the training for registering Non-NYISO Participant accounts if you are registering a company that is a Non-NYISO Participant. Please refer to the NYGATS Operating Rules for additional information on all rules governing the registration and use of your NYGATS Account.
Step 1: Navigate to the NYGATS Informational Site: http://www.nyserda.ny.gov/nygats
Step 2: Select the ‘Register (New Users)' button located on the right-hand side of the screen.
- Selecting the ‘Register (New Users)' button will redirect applicant to the NYGATS Account Registration Screen where the user will fill out the NYGATS Participant Account Holder Agreement.
Step 3: From the NYGATS Participant Account Holder Agreement screen, review the registration steps listed on the screen outlining the entire Account Registration process.
Step 4a (NYISO Members only): NYISO Members select the ‘NYISO Member’ check box and designate "NYISO Organization Name" from the dropdown. If the NYISO Organization Name is not displayed, contact the NYGATS Administrator before proceeding. NYISO Members will have the ‘Account Type’ designated for them. Select the ‘Continue NYGATS Registration’ button located at the bottom of the screen.
Step 5: After clicking the ‘Continue NYGATS Registration’ button, the user will be directed to read and agree to the Online NYGATS Terms of Use. Select the ‘Agree’ Checkbox at the bottom of the Terms of Use and enter the Name and Title of the account representative. After selecting the ‘Agree’ button, the Name, Title, IP Address and timestamp will be recorded as the digital acceptance of the Terms of Use.
Step 6: Upon accepting the Terms of Use, the next screen shows the online New Account Application Form (Company Information, Account Manager Information and Login Information) which will need to be filled out for all required fields at a minimum. Pressing the ‘Submit’ button will initiate an email to the email address associated with the account to authenticate the registered email address and login information and formally 'Activate' the account. If you do not receive this email, please contact the NYGATS Administrator.
The NYGATS Administrator will review the account application. You will not be permitted to log in until your account is approved. The Administrator will ask you to email additional information based on your account type. To expedite the Account Review Process, Please email the administrator (NYGATS@apx.com) the following information and documents:
Please provide a detailed description of how you plan to use your account.
Your detailed description should address the following:
- Do you have any accounts in any other REC Registries?
- If so, which ones?
- Are you registering projects?
- If Yes, please explain
- Are you purchasing RECs?
- If Yes, please explain
- Are you selling/transferring RECs?
- If Yes, please explain
- Are you Importing or Exporting RECs?
- If Yes, please explain
- Confirmation whether your account will have any:
- Omnibus Holdings: REC holdings for other Users
- Omnibus Retirements: REC Retirements for Other Users
**Please do not copy these questions with Yes/No answers. We are looking for complete information about your company, your relationship to the registered account, and how NYGATS is serving your needs. Your answers are part of our audit process to determine you are a legitimate representative of the company you are registering and that you are opening the correct account type for how you need to use NYGATS.
Please provide the following documents as well (if applicable):
- If you are an Agent, provide a signed Declaration of Agency [PDF]
- Appropriate approval document that you are authorized to register this account (e.g. board or member resolution authorizing the opening of the account on our registry; letter from Authorized Personnel authorizing you to operate this account).
When the account application is approved, an email notification describing account approval will be sent to the designated Account Manager’s email address provided in the New Account Application form. If materials are incomplete or additional information is required, the NYGATS Administrator will notify the Account Manager.
